Four Corners: A film made by WRVS Heritage Plus

A Portrait of Brighton's Black and Minority Ethnic Elders

By John Cheves

This social documentary film explores the history of some elder members of Brighton's black and minority ethnic community. In the film, people talk about their memories of coming to England and to Brighton and the contrasts they found with their home countries. They also talk about their hopes and expectations of arriving in a new country and the reality of what things were really like when they first came to the UK.

The film was made local Brighton film-maker Si Mitchell, commissioned by Nicola Benge of WRVS Heritage Plus and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
