These photographs were taken at the WRVS Centre in St Leonards-On-Sea during a ten week activity organised by WRVS Heritage Plus in Hastings. Participants met together every Friday morning at the Centre with local artist Alexandra Leadbetter and WRVS volunteers Sue and Yvonne, to talk about their memories of all things related to flowers.
Over the course of the ten weeks the group entertaintained each other with memories of gardening and growing flowers, the clothes and fashions they remembered from their youth, their wedding bouquets and stories from childhood of going off to pick wild flowers.
Along with this they worked on a variety of craft projects, including making flower brooches, replicas of wedding bouquets and lavender bags.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and the chance to reminisce over some happy memories and wished they could have lasted well beyond the ten weeks they shared.
