At the Hillrise Day Hospital in Newhaven
By Justina Braddock

The memory bubble activity was run at Hillrise Day Hospital in Newhaven. The activity was run by Paula Leighton in July and August 2009 for 6 weeks.

Participants were asked to bring in photographs from their past. They then told the freelancer stories about their lives using the photographs If participants did not have any photographs, pictures were copied that related to their lives eg an illustrator used some of her work or music sheets were used.  The pictures were then scanned and cut up and pasted onto ready made papier mache balloons.

The participants on this activity all suffered from different levels of demetia and it was reported that they had benefited greatly from this activity.  Reminiscence discussions carried on at lunchtime after the sessions.
