With a Roaring 20's musical show from the Weavers

On Wednesday December 16th 2009, Elizabeth Court sheltered home played host the annual, WRVS Heritage Plus Christmas party. The event was an end of year extravaganza with groups from all over the WRVS Heritage Plus Portslade area. Entertainment was provided by the Weavers an over 55 musical group from WRVS Heritage Plus Crawley who kindly visited us for the afternoon, and entertained the group with a musical set comprised of numbers from the Roaring Twenties and then from the 1940s with a few choice Gracie Fields numbers from the indefatigable Wyn Ives.

As a nod to Christmas then group for their finale, dressed up in Santa hats and little fairy lights and sang a medley of Christmas songs which they handed out the words to on song sheets, so everyone could join in. This was followed up with a big raffle organised by WRVS volunteer Rodney Patterson with prizes donated from local residents and Help the Aged. Everyone was a winner, especially when it came to the large buffet spread.
