These photographs were taken at two ten week creative writing workshops that were organised by Heritage Plus simultaneously in Newhaven and Peacehaven in Spring 2009.

The workshops were run by local freelance writer, teacher and storyteller, Umi Sinha who encouraged the participants to draw on their own memories and experiences to write stories from their past.

At the end of the workshops, participants came together at the Hillcrest Centre in Newhaven for a performance in front of an invited audience, where they read some of their stories, which are now published in an anthology entitled 'Living Memory'.
