The group members remember their childhood friends.

Joyce

'I lived in a rough quarter of East London and I paired up with a girl of 'questionable character!' who lived nearby, but we got on really well and she was a good friend.  However, she did end up on the streets but she was a girl with very kind heart'.

Betty

'(I) Didn't have one special friend we all kind of mixed together in a group'.

Mora

'I lived in Brighton and had to walk home at lunchtime from Coombe Road School, I lived in Eastbourne Road. My Mum was at home at dinner time. I remember one time being told off and I went out to play, my mum wanted me to learn the piano. I fell into a wasps nest and ran all the way home over the fields. When I got home I was rinsed down in vinegar'.

Eileen

'I met my friend at high school and then we worked together in a shop in London Road'.

Joan

'Everyone knew each other it was all friendly and we'd help each other out'.
