Leonard White attended the Newhaven Council School for Boys (what eventually became the Hillcrest Centre) in the 1920s. In the sound extract, Leonard talks about the influence of his Headmaster, Ernest J. Coker, and how at school, Leonard found himself propelled towards his future career in theatre and television, directing such things as The Avengers and The Prisoner.
