Farah's Later Life
Life In Tehran Documented By Personal Photographs
By Lu Pearson
Farah's family emigrated to Tehran after fleeing India when she was a young child. The journey took several days by boat, Farah explains that once arriving in Persia: "We went to Tehran the capital of Iran to live. My Grandfather had a house in Tehran where my Aunt lived, so we all stayed on one side of the house and my Aunt stayed on the side. We were very happy to live with my Aunt because she had children the same age as us, but I was older by one year than all of them. Our house had a nice big garden with a swimming pool and a fountain, which we had never had before. The school was very close to our house, it took 12 minutes to get there by foot. After two months my Mother gave birth to my brother, we were very pleased to have him and we helped my Mother a lot when she had him".
Farah stayed in Tehran, these photographs document her time there.
