Play activity sessions, remembering our childhood games
Five week workshop with St Catherine's Hospice in Crawley Winter 2008
By John Cheves
Between October and November 2008, WRVS Heritage Plus in Crawley put on a five week long workshop activity for people at St Catherine's Hospice in Crawley. They met with artist Jo Harrison to explore the world of play, toys and childhood games through reminiscence, group discussions, games and craft activities.
Everyone seemed very keen to share these almost entirely fond memories and people still had the knack of playing games they had played when they were very small. Songs, school yard activities and mischief were recalled and shared. The atmosphere of the group was playful, a lot of fun and very productive.
The photographs below show the participants enjoying the activitites they took part in.
