The mayor remembers the mayoress
Courtship at an early age
By Nicola Benge
Diving into marriage
The Mayor, Garry Peltzer Dunn who became Mayor of Brighton and Hove in May 2008 talks about his courtship of the Mayoress Chip.
I first entertained my future wife in my bedroom when I was 8 and she was 7! We both lived in The Drive, Hove. She lived two doors down. We shared an interest in being paratroopers - we jumped off the top of the wardrobe onto my bed! From small beginnings, a long courtship, and so far, a long marriage. We married in 1966 at St Andrews Church in Hove and we honeymooned for two days in Oxford before coming back early for my grandmother's funeral.
Family fortunes
We have two children and two grandchildren. The latter winding me around their little fingers.
