During a reminiscence session at Eastbourne WRVS, we try and rememember where we have lived in Eastbourne over the years.
Who's lived where?
Ella: I lived in Priory Road first, Langney near West Ham. Then I lived in the Coastguard Cottages, Hanover Road, Kilda Street, then back to Wallace Place. Then I moved to St Phillips where I got married, then Seaside (nr. Winchelsea road), then sold the business and moved to Hamden Park off Hazelwood Ave, Croxden way, then back to seaside (Nr. Tollgate Gardens) where I still live now.
Meg: I lived in Firle Road and was born on the corner of this road and St George's road called Dennis Cottages. They have been knocked down now. Then I moved to Sidley road (nr Bexhill road), then Seaside by Bellevue Court, then Seaford Road by Fairlight Road and now I live in Wannock Road.
Margery: I first lived in Bath Road when I came to Eastbourne from Hailsham. Then when I got married I came to Sidley Road opposite where Margaret lives. The Gorringe Road, then Wannock Road and that's where I live now.
Barbara: I lived in Southfields Road when I got married. The house was pulled down and new ones built. I then lived in the village Meads, then to Denton Road and then on the seafront (Southcliffe Ave, off King Edward's Parade).
Alice : Windemere Crescent where Tesco is now, and now I'm at Sovereign Court, Wannock road. I moved to Eastbourne 18 years ago.
Gail: Lived above a restaurant when she first came to Eastbourne on Seaside Road. It was a one bed flat with a tiny kitchen in a new development in Lovell Court; Mill Road built in 1985 near the Hurst Arms, by the Lovell family builders, well known Eastbourne builders.
In 1987 a hurricane blew our wall and ceilings away and we had to move into a hotel (The Albany) at the expense of the builders whilst they rebuilt our house. We put on weight at the hotel cos of the good food. In 1990 we moved to Watts Lane where I had my son in '94 and in '98 when he went to infant school we moved to a house in Victoria Drive.
