Mince and tatties

I lived in Thornton Heath, South London. All of us in the back room - nothing special, we lived with my Grandmother.

Schooldays

In the infants school we wrote on slates and sat in rows.  By the time I was seven I could read and write.  We had so much freedom, we used to walk to school and home when we were five.

Don't mince your words

I remember we used to eat lots of mince from the left over Sunday roast.  Sometimes the mince was mixed with bread and made into rissoles and we always had cabbage.  You could feed a big family like that.
