We went to the Synagogue on Saturdays, years ago it was quite strict, lit the candles, all those things.
I had quite snobby parents, they used to entertain a lot. It caused a lot of arguments. I was quite rebellious, I was about 12 when I became a rebel. The others behaved themselves. We had prayers in the morning, prayers at lunch and then the scroll was read out. In the evening we would eat and entertain every weekend.
I let fly at sixteen I wouldn't do anything. On the Sabbath we would have lots of wine, herrings and potatoes, all laid out right, it had to be right, I hated every minute of it.
